A lot of these conspiracies have some superficially plausible elements as the hook and then before you know it you’ve fallen head first down the rabbit hole.

My mate reckons the Queen, Pope and Biden have already been executed 🤣

It would be funny if they didn’t desperately believe it.

My sister thinks the Sandy Hook shooting was staged

Where I live in Lower Alabama, I would guess that about 60% truly believe that the election was stolen

Hell, Georgia elected a Q Congresswoman. She is absolutely bat-shit crazy.

Otherwise intelligent people have turned into complete morons. It boggles the mind.
      Lower Alabama?

I thought that’s what they called Panama City Beach, the red neck riviera - where I spent Spring Break as a wide eyed 17 year old!

The "real" LA. Lower Alabama, near Mobile. I live in Baldwin County, one of the most conservative counties in one of the most conservative states. Idiocy runs rampant.

North Florida is just as redneck. I've always said that the further north you go in Florida, the farther south you get.

Being dumb 17 year olds, we flew into Miami assuming Spring Break was near there and tried to hail a cab.

Ended up having to get a Greyhound Bus all the way up the panhandle through Tallahassee, Jax etc. You can imagine what kind of crowd was on that!

That bus ended in Mobile funnily enough.

You must feel like a fish out of water down there!

Sorry, did I use too many big words for you there?

OK, OK, you may have used it correctly once...when pointing out that after enduring hundreds of your personal attacks and ad hominems, I've turned the tables on you a few times. A better man than I wouldn't stoop to such a level, but I find it entertaining once in a while.

And now you're "game." Oh my. I'm sorry fellow forumites, it appears I've caused chemo to abandon his usual rational, adult debate style to adopt a strategy of personal attacks, yelling down anyone he disagrees with, and bloviating about his extreme leftist moral superiority.
I know exactly what hypocrisy is, which is why I use it. Unlike you. Everything you have mocked and sneered at others for doing, you shamelessly do yourself.

            Hence, you're a hypocrite.

And I know EXACTLY what all those big words you're using mean, too. Which is how I know you're full of shit using flowery language to try and hide the fact that nothing you've said is particularly novel, and not providing any insight that couldn't be gleaned from reading Ruth Kinna for a few hours.

You're not impressing anyone. Stop trying.

My post was massively away from that type of thing, TLL, with my main gripe being about Type 1 Diabetes.

With my 28 year old daughter being T1 for 16 years, I’ve done 16 years worth of reading and research on it. There IS actually a cure.
Summarising massively but experiments have been carried out whereby a certain protein can be extracted from the liver of a compatible person and can be injected into the pancreas of the sufferer...... it kick starts the pancreas.
And I read that YEARS ago.

But diabetes control is worth BILLIONS to big pharma.

Not tin foil hat shit, honest.

Ok, where my bus ticket to Lower Alabama!

That is the majority of people in my area. If there is a TV in a business, it is tuned to fox. Hell, sports bars have FOX with subtitles on at least one TV, usually more.

                    • It CAN work. Working RELIABLY is another matter. Now, if you want to argue that these sort of things should be attempted more often, and that federal regulations can have onerous requirements... I'd agree with that, honestly.

I've never heard of that, but I know that a low carb or keto diet can "cure" type II diabetes and there is huge push back against them.

At the one of the Planet Fitness gyms I go to I try to get as far away from the Fox one as I can. But because of social distancing, they have committed violence on me by putting two thirds of the treadmills off limits. The other the only one available was the worst spot in the gym, a treadmill directly in front of Fox with the TV next to it has a Sinclair station that alternates between Jimmy Swaggart and Boris Epstein. I wanted to declare myself a sovereign person right then and there.

                          • Yep, high fat / low carb keto-genic eating can help T2 and put into remission but if you carry on eating poorly years later, your type 2 will return........ so not a cure as such and I realise you put cure in quotes so you’ll no doubt know that.
But the T1 stuff is an actual cure. Apparently. My sister who’s a GP did say she’d read up on it but still hasn’t. That was Fucking years ago. Those GP lizard skin bastards!

                            • I am impressed by the nimbleness of the conspiracy theories. Something newsworthy happens in the world and they immediately incorporate it into the overarching narrative. Saw one th other day that said that the capitol storming was a planned operario. That was moved up two days and it was used to get information from Pelosi and others computers, and that information was used to stop a secret sale of GE to a Chinese government controlled conglomerate. The secret sale was supposed to be finalized in Pakistan and the information gathered a!lower for a strike to knock out power in Pakistan which stopped the sale, all of which was coordinated by Trump.

The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.
