  • Unless anyone can correct me, it was 584 posts into a politics thread (notwithstanding the other political DEATH VIRUS THREAD) before anyone suggested that political discussion should be banned from the forum.

And it wasn't until one individual came in and challenged the idea of politics altogether, proposing ideas of peace and voluntary interaction instead of political force.

    It's a beautiful irony.
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

        • jgspartan and I are having a discussion on the beach. He says there has to be rules, and obviously, a ruler.

I suggest that perhaps we should get together with the other dudes to talk about "rules," and then we'll get around to this idea of a "ruler."

          • Agreement doesn't necessitate rule. Disagreements do. That's the point I've been making the whole time.

There will always be decisions that need to be made that effect more than one person and negative consequences for some and gain for others is unavoidable.

There will always be people who wish to have control of those decisions as evidenced by the entirety of human history. History also doesn't look good for attempts at anarchy.

It's not that someone HAS to be the moral authority it's that there will always be those that WANT to and there will always be means of power obtainable to achieve it and people to be ruled to maintain it.

It's not that your belief in how society should be can't work in small sample sizes it's that the likelihood of failure grows exponentially the more you include and the more outside factors you implement.

Only five people in the world they can easily choose not to rule each other. Add another "country" with 100,000 people that decides they want your land and suddenly you are ruled or you die.

Your whole philosophy relies on no one amassing enough power to take what is yours while ignoring the lack of structure completely gimps your ability to react to an attempt In a unified manner. To be able to react quickly you would need someone to be able to make decisions for the many and thus you no longer have your liberty.

            • Can we just take a minute to laugh about the fact that Cryin’ Don is banned from twitter for life and is about to be impeached a second time in one term for incitement to insurrection?

ARE YOU TIRED OF WINNING YET!

              • You would think that someone who spends as much time "thinking" about this shit as ULF wouldn't get his ass kicked every time he "debates" the issue on this forum.

But damn, it happens every time he spews his nonsense. Every time.

Well, really... how can you defend, "I want to be able to do whatever I want without consequences" and not look like a fool at best, or a narcissistic asshole at worst?

                      • I don't depend on, nor have any need to appeal to some other authority in order to smash all of your juvenile retorts as to why you should not be free.

I've heard or read every single goddamn objection that every one of you has brought up, hundreds of times. You all work from the same script. You all suffer from the same lack of ability to reason through simple concepts.

I carry this virtual set of flash cards in my head. Each one has one of your pre-programmed responses on it:

                        One of them says WaRLoRDz!

                        Another says FirE CrOWdEd TheATeR!

                        Another says ROADZ!1

When I make a statement, I can pull one of these cards and wait for one of you to regurgitate the statist catch phrase. It's funny, if it weren't so sad. There are a few dozen more that I haven't pulled one of your strings for yet, but we'll get to them...

What kind of child responds like this? What you're describing is a libertine, and nothing I've said here could possibly strike the mind of a rational adult as libertine.
