  • We should get rid of the politics threads altogether, I mean we read this same stuff from Eric Ralph 20 years ago. It's not very persuasive. It is better to talk Lions.

                • Why so angry chemy? lol

                  Is your religion under attack?

Maybe I should have been clearer in my inquiry regarding "human nature." What I was getting at, is why do you all believe that without an institution with a monopoly on violence, the fundamental nature of man leads to chaos, dog eat dog, everyone for himself?

Your day-to-day experience does not validate such ideas. Most of your interaction with other people is peaceful, and it's not the case that they'd be attacking you if there wasn't a government preventing them from doing so. People are generally conflict-avoiding. The real world around you, actually, IS anarchy. The order you see is not imposed on society by an institution with a monopoly on violence, it exists in spite of such an institution.

Again, before someone chimes in with UtOPiA! PeRfECT WoRLD! stuff...

                  No.

There is no utopia. There is no perfect world. Conflict will always exist. Violence will always exist. These things can be resolved - but two important points:

                  1) The presence of the state does nothing to reduce or prevent violence. Cops rarely, if ever prevent any violation of life, liberty or property. That is a fact. They show up later and write reports and draw chalklines around bodies.

                  2) On the contrary, the state exponentially increases the rate of violence and conflict in society. Politicians sit in marble halls and pass tens of thousands of pages of "law" every year, making more and more peaceful activity a "crime" for which their attack dogs initiate violence in the name of the "law." Any interaction between any state enforcer and any individual who is not interfering with the life, liberty, or property of another is an act of aggression and the initiation of violence by the state.

                  No victim, no crime.

On point 2, I can give a million examples of how this plays out. The net increase in the amount of violence in society due to the state is unimaginable.
The only thing missing from that Marvin Jones touchdown reversal is that it wasn't a first round playoff game.

                  • Anarchy means no rulers. Not "no rules."

People should be able to organize around rules they mutually agree upon. Voluntary association. Even the idea of the "American Experiment" was supposed to be an exercise in regional, culturally-based rules with states holding the cards. Of course, that failed - as every promise of statism does. The state centralized, first under a coup that established a new government not authorized by the Articles, and then a "civil" war that forced a "union" under one central power.

Yeah, I saw this. So has Facebook, their ban is "at least" until after the "transition of power."

How can you all not look at this and be horrified? You now have major tech companies that offer platforms for communication outright censoring and banning communication they disagree with?

I deleted my entire FB profile last month because of their "fact checking" of anything negative about Joe Biden and any science that challenged the covid-lockdown insanity. I never once saw them "fact check" any negative comments about Trump during the election cycle.

And please...if any of you calls me a Trump supporter as a result of this, I'm going to die laughing...

Whatever happened to PC Dave? One time I made fun of the group Rush and he went off on me. I even liked Rush.

We miss Deuce as well, that dude was so pro Mayhew it was comical.

Of course we need both Pittman4two and powerwheelpimp back pronto, those dudes were the intellectual center of this forum.

                          That is not censorship.

                          • I agree that it is a private platform and they can do what they choose with it, but I still find it horrific that they impose their politics to determine what thoughts individuals should express. The service they provide is to enable communication.

I said it a few months back: I think the social media world is going to divide into camps. MeWe, for example, is committed to providing a medium through which people communicate, and having no interest whatsoever in what they communicate about. One could see a Trump heading over to such a platform, and tens of millions of people following him.

One day, you may see people in the "real world" saying "stay away from him, he's one of the MeWe types!"

                            • Bullshit. THey are acting (finally) on a responsibility to maintain the peace. Same as they did banning Alex Jones. Because both of those fat fucks are damaging the world. They are the ones dividing to create the 'others'. Or MeWe's or whatever. You are talking in circles.
