The thing i don't get is that in the weeks before the election, Trump kept saying that a Covid vaccine was close ... but the impression i got from the news/ media was like uh yeah right nowhere near ... then almost immediately after the election they announce that vaccines are right around the corner almost ready ... seemed weird

I'd have to go back and look, but most of the reporting as I recall was that maybe there would be a vaccine by the end of the year, but that it would be middle of next year before it would be widely available. That's pretty much the timeline that things are operating under now. Didn't Pfizer even announce before the election that was their timeline?

The vaccine was created in January but it had to go through all the trials. I have read that the rise of COVID in the third wave made it easier to test the vaccines.

Trump was just saying shot to say shit, I'm not sure he had any knowledge behind his claims.
