  • Yes and we had largely evolved beyond that, the extremists were pushed out or kept to the fringe. Now we have an entire party taken over by extremists and these crazies coming out of the woodwork and getting elected.

    • I actually blame the government (usually from over-promising and under-delivering), and to a lesser extent the media (all of it, not just FOX News), for most of the ills in our political system, including MAGA.

One thing at a time. Just because someone says something about Biden doesn’t mean it immediately needs a Trump diss.

Biden is incompetent and he’s not there. I have no idea how they think he can stand up in front of the world and debate my 10 year old kid.

I don’t want either running for president and that’s truth. I think Trump would have been better this last term for the US instead of Biden but IMO his time has lapsed as well.
        F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

I only use Facebook to keep up with family and friends that I don’t have any other shared context with. The only news that shows up in my feed is from my right leaning friends and I’m amazed at how often it’s not just opinions I disagree with but actual false information…i.e. videos with fake audio

            And Whitley

            Stupid logic

Do you really think it will be any better under the Mango Mussolini?
So you are okay with his policy on Gaza?

Trump is a POS no doubt about it. If Trump is a bowl of shit, then Biden is a half a bowl of shit.

Biden as yet (as of this post) to say what we wants to do in a second term.

Biden is the result of the establishment Dems doing everything in their power doing everything they could do to keep Sen Sanders out of getting the nomination. He has no real base if support.

Nobody wants this matchup yet here we are. Again. And for the 3rd time , the Dem playbook is .....well ...we aren't as bad as Trump/MAGA...vote for us.

The fact is that a generic Rep/Dem beats Biden/Trump by like ten points.

            • My preference is not to have another Biden presidency. He's been fine, but 80 year-olds should not be running the free world.

But a second Trump presidency has the potential to be "end of the Republic" bad. And they aren't hiding it, they are putting it right out there telling everybody what they want to do. Spend some time reading Project 2025 and some of the insane plans Stephen Miller and others have for a 2nd term.

              • Whitley keep on making this weird assumption that there is an untapped reserve of lefties out there that aren't voting because his preference of Bernie Sanders was kept down by "the establishment". Bernie didn't win the nomination because there is much more boring moderates than firebrands.

Bernie endorsed Biden and that should be enough. Quit fucking whining.

As far as Gaza, I think people think there is the big red easy button that Biden isn't pressing. That big easy button doesn't exist and its why this situation has existed for far longer than Whitley has been alive.

Already know about Project 2025. It's horrendous. Not going to vote for Trump. Biden makes it very hard to vote for him.

The ironic thing is Biden could look strong and not feeble just by saying Israel is our friend but we are not giving them anymore weapons and no more money for what is going on with Gaza.

So you are all right with Biden cosigning a genocide in Israel?

                    • I mean, sure. Biden could do that. And it wouldn't matter. It would be an empty, performative gesture.

Because Israel hasn't been a vassal state of the US for decades. Bibi's response would be the exact same he gave the rest of the world; a contemptuous middle finger then go right back to his genocide.

Biden and his administration clearly thought the best move was to be able to stay in the room and try and blunt the worst of the Zionist actions. It hasn't worked except in maybe the most marginal way.

But I really don't think there was a RIGHT move that can be played.

At the very least, it's an attempt better than Donald Trump's call to "finish the job."

                      • If it was genocide, Bernie Sanders would be saying it was genocide. Again, there is no fucking easy button in this conflict. Sit out the election, whine and let Trump win.

                        • Yes, by the legal definition of "genocide," what's happening in Gaza is not.

But for casual discussion, the mass killing of an ethnic group is close enough that I'm not THAT worried about splitting hairs.

Yes and no. Whatever stance Biden took he was going to take a beating. I agree that the right thing is to condemn what's happening to the civilians and push harder and sooner for a cease fire. But as Chemi notes, it may not have made a difference and may have even sent Bibi off the deep end. And Biden would have been vilified not just by the right but huge swaths of the Jewish community and supporters for not standing by an ally, for supporting terrorism, etc.

Not saying it's right to slow play it, but it's a situation that would have put any president in a political vice.

                              • Maybe there was a perfect point where Biden could have broken his full throated support of Israel and not suffered much blowback, but that's a moment that I suspect we'll only be able to identify in retrospect.
