    • Yes, that age discrimination thing shouldn't be a thing.

Wouldn't want a shaky handed, poor sighted 70+ year old removing a brain tumour. (Thats tumor for Jaadam) The spelling i mean. Don’t be getting tumours. (Thats tumors for Jaadam)

      • I don’t necessarily think there should be a limit. For 2 reasons: 1) People go soft at different times…my parents are both in their early 80s and I’d trust my mom to be president, I don’t trust my dad to get to the grocery store by himself. 2) There is no substitute for the experience and patience that comes with age…and these are both things that any president needs.

All this being said…this is an issue that should be more widely discussed. It should be something we’re allowed to talk about…but you’re not allowed to have honest discussions about this one because we’re overly sensitive to discriminating against anything (or anyone).

The idea that we’re not allowed to discuss certain issues (relevant and true as they may be) because someone’s feelings might get hurt is pervasive in American culture.

        • Do you think Joe Biden could have handled Cuban missile crisis better then a mid forties John Kennedy?
          Age and wisdom is overrated

          • I think the reason You don’t see quality younger candidates is because of concerns that someone is going to find something a person did in their younger days that may be harmful to their personal lives.
You can’t cover up past sins as easy as you over 30 years ago.

Hey genius, you do know that there's a minimum age of 35 years old to be elected right? How does that differ?
              F#*K OHIO!!!

You're not only an amazingly beautiful man, but you're the greatest football mind to ever exist. <-- Jeffy Shittypants actually posted this. I knew he was in love with me.

                • I don't want Biden to run again. And I'd much prefer a younger, brilliant guy or gal to be president.

Arguably, it could possibly not stand legal scrutiny. No one has tested it to find out.

What I am telling you is that a bunch of old folks on the Supreme Court would nigh immediately strike down any attempt to add a mandatory maximum age for public office, whether you think it's right or not.

Personally? We, as a country, have had (and will have) many chances to tell old folks to take a hike without any laws making it so. We keep sending those old folks to state houses and D.C. anyway. I wish we didn't.

Preferably someone that does not have a word salad while saying nothing (looking at you Harris and Pete).

                      • The problem there is that the sort of person who can "speak simply" but also convey enough information that does due justice to the complexity of any issue WITHOUT resorting to a "word salad" is exceptionally rare, and likely not going to be particularly good at the "politics" aspect of the job.

True. Trump took a cognitive test when he was President. Biden refuses. Does anyone here think Biden could pass a cognitive test?

                            2) Americans have had several chances to elect people of a "more reasonable age" for the office of the President. We have decided, "Nah. Give us some geriatric dudes," both in primaries and general elections for a while. It's actually been the exception rather than the rule since around Kennedy or so to elect someone under the age of 60.
Not correct. 7 0f 12 were under 60 when elected. There is some recency bias in having Trump and then Biden as the most recent Presidents.

With all the Trump impressions out there coupled with the lip-sync technology, you sometimes got to wonder if he actually said ALL of the stupid shit.
Frightening that the tw@t could potentially be President again next year.
The re-counts and conspiracies are entertaining.
