More absentee will likely mean more voter turnout. This is the actual reason Republicans oppose it. More turnout generally hurts them. I could see it having a big effect in Michigan and specifically the Detroit area more than perhaps some other swing states that don't have a large liberal city.

But doesn't that tell you something? Most Americans do not agree with Republicans. If not, why continually try to keep people from their constitutional rights? Everyone should have to vote, just like taxes. If you want to mark the box "I'm good" then so be it. As citizens it's our responsibility. Like taxes.
