Cam Newton “felt bamboozled” by having to sit out five days after team-approved doctor visit

Patriots quarterback Cam Newton said on Friday that he doesn’t think missing five days of practice after a violation of the league’s COVID-19 protocols caused him to be released from the team, but he said he wouldn’t have gone to Atlanta to see a doctor about his foot if he knew it would result in being away from the team for a longer period of time.
Newton said he went to the doctor who diagnosed his Lisfranc injury several years ago because it was his last chance to do so before the start of the regular season. As the Patriots noted in a statement, the trip was done with the team’s knowledge and approval but Newton was held out because of “a misunderstanding about tests conducted away from NFL facilities.”
In a YouTube video with his father, Newton said he would “absolutely not” have gone if he’d known what the outcome would be.
“I crossed all the lines, I checked all the boxes, I dotted all my i’s. Then to find out I had to sit out, that’s when I kinda felt bamboozled, because y’all told me to go,” Newton said.
NFL protocols require unvaccinated players to test at team facilities daily. A player could test early in the morning on one day and late at night on the second day while traveling to and from the team’s city in between the tests without violating the protocol, but it’s not clear what the misunderstanding was that led Newton to miss that time in August.

Report: Raiders reach 100 percent vaccinated

The Las Vegas Raiders are a fully vaccinated football team, according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Whichever players had remained holdouts throughout the preseason have made the decision to get their COVID-19 vaccinations before the start of the regular season. Linebacker Denzel Perryman had indicated recently his thoughts on possibly getting his shots had changed with him saying he was considering getting the vaccine.
With the team now fully vaccinated, it would appear Perryman made the leap.
The Raiders had already required fans set to attend games this season to be fully vaccinated so they could watch the games without masks. They also will have vaccination stations set up at games so fans who aren’t vaccinated can get their first shots on-site and then attend the games with a mask until their protocol has been completed.
While rosters won’t stay the same and the Raiders may not stay at 100 percent for the entire season, the entire team and all the fans in the stands for home games will all be vaccinated in Las Vegas to begin the regular season.
The Raiders kick off their regular season Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.Trickalicious - I don't think it is fair that the division rivals get to play the Lions twice. The Lions NEVER get to play the Lions, let alone twice.

Oh wow. No accommodations huh?
Navy assistant coach let go for refusing COVID-19 vaccine

The U.S. Naval Academy is requiring everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccine. That includes the football coaching staff, and as a result one assistant coach is no longer with the team.
Billy Ray Stutzmann, an offensive assistant, released a statement saying his application for a religious exemption was denied, and as a result of his continued refusal to get vaccinated, Navy has let him go. He did not say what religious teachings prevent him from getting vaccinated.
The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, and are the world’s best hope for ending the pandemic. By refusing to do the one thing we all need to do to end the pandemic, Stutzmann is prioritizing his own ignorant fears over the health and safety of the people around him, and it’s good that the United States Naval Academy won’t tolerate such dangerous selfishness.
Navy is not the only college football team with vaccine issues on its coaching staff. Washington State head coach Nick Rolovich is still refusing to say whether he’s fully vaccinated, as he will need to be by the state’s October 18 deadline if he wants to keep his job. One Rolovich’s assistants is Craig Stutzmann, the brother of Billy Ray Stutzmann. Craig Stutzmann has also refused to say if he is vaccinated.

I thought initially "Oh good, someone was fired over Afghanistan."
HAHA, nope.

USA TODAY Sports
The COVID-19 protocols that the NFL and NFL players association agreed to for the 2021 season have provided a clear incentive for players to get vaccinated.
Apparently, those rules and restrictions have made at least one player reconsider his stance on getting jabbed.
Linebacker Denzel Perryman addressed the Las Vegas media for the first time since the Raiders acquired him from the Panthers and told reporters that he hasn’t liked how being unvaccinated has made him feel in the team facility.
“For the record, I am thinking about the vaccination now,” Perryman said, via Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I ain’t gonna lie. Too many restrictions going on. Can’t even eat with my fellow brothers. I don’t like being an outcast.”
As Hill pointed out, Perryman was required to wear a mask at the podium because he hasn’t received a vaccine to this point.
If it takes feeling like an outcast to induce Perryman into getting vaccinated, then in many ways, that’s a victory for public health. But it also helps the Raiders for availability. Having fewer unvaccinated players means there are fewer individuals who must be placed on the COVID-19 list due to a close contact. And as we’ve seen with the Colts this week, missing those days in the regular season would be significant.

Why you not believing Cammy Boy? Sounds legit to me?"...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

I wasn't a big Cam fan but I agree with the notion the league allowed may too many liberties to be taken with him because of his size. That Super Bowl was ridiculous. There are certain quarterbacks the league protects and other ones they let shit go. Cam was in the latter, it's much easier to develop the pocket skills when the ref has your back.
It will be interesting to see Stafford because he was another one the league let a lot of hits go on him, now that he is on a glamour team he may start getting protected.

Huge Cammy Boy Newton fan here......., but hear me out, don't bust my balls just yet.
The Richmond Tigers (AFL, Australian Rules Football club) invited Cam to spend time training with them in pre-season 2016. The footage of that is amazing. But the mighty TIGES hadn't won a Premiership flag since 1980 at that time. ------>> and then won the title 2016, 2018 & 2020. I'm putting that glorious 2016 epic season down to Cam Newtons inspirational chats behind the scenes. He was certainly inspiring to TIGES legend, Jack Reiwoldt. He genuinely comes across as a decent guy."...when Hibernian won the Scottish Cup final and that celebration, Sunshine on Leith? I don’t think there’s a better football celebration ever in the game.”

Fuck all of you cuntspiracy anti-vax fucking cunts. Fuck all of you and then some.
This week an old shipmate of mine died of COVID. He was healthy and vibrant. A coach, husband, father and grandfather. He bought into the bullshit conspiracy crap and the anti-vax that you stupid motherfuckers have been selling. He posted stupid shit and touted the right-wing anti-vax misinformation bullshit on on his Facebook feed.
He bought into that shit and now he's gone.
I am sad that he is gone, and I am pissed that he died from something that was completely preventable.
So fuck you if you believe that shit and an even bigger FUCK YOU if you are spreading it.
Fuck you. Fuck you. Fuck you.I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
