I think they've been together all 4 years they've been at Michigan. 18-20 years from now, we could see Stu Jr. playing for Coach Bacari Alexander.

It's over, Women lose yet another game in which they had an early lead. This seems to be a common pattern for them this season, to lead early---sometimes a huge lead---and let it slip away. Seems to have happened in most of their losses, and even frequently in games they've squeaked out a "W" in.

Anyway, final score Iowa wins 79-71, "M" Women now 19-10 overall, 8-8 in B1G play.

Bummer. I'd like to see both hoops programs in the big dance. I'd even watch.

Another win---this one a ninth-inning walkoff--- for the baseball team, now 7-2 for the year:

Go Blue! BEAT ohio!

At least we get to root against ohio Friday---Michigan's Women hoopsters face the bobbiecats tomorrow morning at 11:30 am in the quarters of the "butch" B1G Tournament. Michigan's gals beat Illinois today 68-53 in the first of a 2-game basketball sweep of the Illini today (Men just won the 2nd half of the "DH" tonight).

I agree with the sentiment to root against Sparty but not for Ohio.

Sounds like if there is a 3-way tie for the B10 Championship, M would have the #2 seed and the buckeyes #3 based on something like the 3rd or 4th tiebreaker?

It was explained to me that after comparing records, you go head to head (tie), then record against next highest seed (would be tie as it's Sparty and both M and osu would split), then next highest (Wisconsin, where M is 1-0 and osu 1-1).

Not sure if it makes much difference or if I have that right, and only applies if osu wins, obviously.

So why is Sparty the number one seed ahead of us if all three teams tie for the title?

That's a good question. When I look at the standings today and think about the 3-way tie, the explanation that was given me doens't make sense now.

Are OOC records part of the consideration?

Congrats go out to the Women for making their Big Dance.

They take on Oklahoma in their first round game. The game is in Norman so that's going to be a big upset if they get the win.

Good luck and Go Blue!

It will probably be a short lived ride in the NCAA's for the ladies, but a few years ago, Michigan would have never been thought of for an NCAA berth. Coach Borseth has done a great job, and hopefully, the new basketball facility will help his recruiting.

I saw today that two of the recruits who have committed finished as Miss Basketball and her 2nd runnerup---nice to see we're getting 2 of the top 3 recruits in Michigan into Michigan!

I'm happy for Borseth and especially for those gals on his team---they've all worked hard to build the program, and just getting to the Women's NCAA Tourney is a nice reward and another big step in the right direction.

I read they hadn't made it since 2001. I'm pretty sure I watched that game. I thought it was more recent but recalling where I was living at that time, that does make sense. They may have been playing Notre Dame.

The last time the Wolverines made the field of 64 was in 2001. U-M defeated Virginia, 81-71, in overtime in the first round before dropping an 88-54 decision to Notre Dame. Both games were played in South Bend, Ind. The Maize and Blue holds a 2-4 record in the NCAA Tournament, making appearances in 1990, 1998, 2000 and 2001
