Is he eligible to play somewhere else after obtaining his UM degree? I assume, if he wanted to still play somewhere, he could maybe get another bachelors, or start grad school. Is this correct?

I think that he's probably not eligible, since he received a redshirt this year, and he'd have to sit out another year if he transfers without graduating from Michigan first.

If he graduates, he's eligible for the "Russell Wilson" approach by enrolling in a master's program and can play right away. Apparently, that's what he wants to do from what I've heard.

He could go somewhere and attend a graduate program but it would have be somewhere where they have a graduate program M doesn't offer.

Really? That would make it pretty difficult i would think. What if M offers every graduate program that his bachelors degree qualifies him for? Shit outta luck? Perhaps thats why we dont see this happening anywhere very often.

Not sure how this works out with Stonum's dismissal but if he were a regular transfer, he'd be able to transfer to any university where they offer a graduate program that Michigan doesn't. Universities with a lot of graduate programs (large public universities) shouldn't have much issue finding a program for him he'd have more trouble getting into private universities or schools which have a lot fewer graduate programs.

Not sure what the academic requirements are, but he does have one year of athletic eligibility available, and he does not have to sit out a year. He might be a good pickup for a MAC school that offers a qualifying graduate program.

I'm thinking that we may need a separate "MSU's Dantonio Is An A$$hole" thread for stuff like this, but for now .. discuss ...

Ryan Mundy did it by transferring to WVA.

Tons of colleges likely offer a graduate program, M doesn't. Stonum just needs to get accepted into those graduate programs and since he's talented, some coach (who has some influence) will make sure he gets accepted into one of those programs.

I realize there are plenty of graduate programs that M doesn't offer. However, a student is fairly limited in which program he can choose, since it has to relate to his bachelors degree, correct? I would think that M would offer graduate degrees for a significant amount of the bachelors degrees that they offer.

That said, it sounds like its not as difficult as I'm making it out to be.

Stonum doesn't strike me as a "graduate in four years" type of guy though.

He says he's working towards graduating in the spring.

Your graduate program doesn't necessarily have to do anything with your undergraduate degree.

Dantonio (while winning) has rubbed me the wrong way in a Lloyd Carr type a way. He is a classless bully. Then again its seems the really good HC's are all jerks, so I guess that it is good for Michigan Sate. With Hoke/Mattison and Urban to deal with it will be interesting to see if he can stay near the top of the Big Ten.

Stonum is ineligible for a B1G scholarship.

Dantonio probably paid Stonum a visit while he was in jail...

and pressed his nipple against the glass.
