Inge was a bad signing too. And Ordonez looks like he's ready to hang 'em up.

At least Inge plays defense. Giving big money to Benoit is the kind of stupid mistake you expect in a fantasy league, not from a real GM.

The White Sox and Twins are both 10 games behind the Tribe. It's only May 1st, but that's a long ways to be back that early in the year

Never count out the Twins. Like cancer and cockroaches, they can come back at any time.

Wow, the Tigers are just not a good baseball team. Decent starting pitching. Terrible hitting. Terrible defense. Terrible bullpen.
This is going to be a long year. |

Tigers needed a lot more things to go right than wrong for them this season as I didn't see them being a very talented bunch. This season most everything is going wrong.

Verlander throws a no-hitter today in Toronto! A walk in the 8th was his only blemish.

I missed the damn game. Saw that he was throwing a shutout after a few innings but I didn't even notice it was a no-hitter!

Only six back now. Plenty doable. If Cleveland can cool off a bit and we can stay close up to the break we'll be in the race all year.

sheesh ... break up the Tigers ... 3 out of 4 in Toronto and a 2 game mini-sweep in Minnesota.
Any time you can sneak into Target Field and swipe a couple from the Twins is a good thing.

V-Mart is finally hitting and the starting pitching has been really good. If they could get Ordonez going this could be a pretty good team!

3.5 out. I wonder if this Dirks kid is gonna come in for Maglio and tear it up?

Some have said once Dirks made it to the Majors, there would be no sending him back.
He's supposed to be THAT good. We'll see.

The $16 million dollar fail blows another game today. What the hell was Dombrowski thinking with this joker? I would say it's the biggest mistake Dombrowski has ever made except that the Willis deal was probably even stupider.
Dombrowski makes some good moves, but he does some unbelievably stupid things too. I mean, who gives a career guy like Benoit this kind of money?? |

I'm still shaking my head over the Placido Polonco deal. Lynn Henning wrote a good article about that in todays Detroit Snooze.

Yeah, I don't get Dombrowski. Getting Cabrera was genius. But then he goes out and makes some moves that every Tiger fan knows are just unbelievably stupid (Benoit, letting Polanco walk, extending Willis contact for $80 bazillion dollar 30 seconds before finding out he is mentally unstable). So I don't know what to think of him. I mean, these aren't just bad deals, they are undefendable deals that a "good" GM would never EVER make. Yet the Cabrera trade could well be the best Tiger trade of my lifetime.
