I'm a little confused but I guess I'll see what it looks like when you put it up.

Confused about what? I hope to have a lot of 'info'/links in the first couple messages in the recruiting discussion. People will be able to find the answer to a lot of questions by looking at that one message...

M needs to make up room for RJS and Ross but have time to make it up. Last I heard, they weren't in either 'top' group but those things change quickly with 17-year olds.

So you are going to keep updating the first post in that new thread?

Exactly. Hopefully that is even possible to edit messages days or months after the fact.

Its a good idea WM. I have seen this done on facebook recruiting sites. Beats asking the same question everyday as to who are we looking at and who is on board. Hope it works.

I was thinking tomorrow I had some free time. If you just want a quick & dirty recruiting board with kids with mutual interest, I could throw one up pretty quickly.

Good idea ..... your posts have always provided a road map of sorts that help sort out the various listings (always too long and not very accurate) of the recruiting rags/blogs. Good to get a different perspective.

Several lists of projected members of the 2012 class floating around at rivals. This is the concensus best one:

QB 3* 5.7 Maty Mauk 6-2/190 Kenton OH
QB 4* 6.0 Zeke Pike 6-5/225 Edgewood KY (Dixie Hts.)

RB: 3* 5.7 RB Wes Brown 6-0/190 Good Counsel Kids (Olney MD

WR: 5* 6.1 WR Stefon Diggs 6-2/190 Good Counsel Kids (Olney MD)

OT 4* 5.9 Jordan Diamond 6-6/290 Chic Simeon
OG 3* 5.6 Ben Braden (6-3, 275) Rockford MI
OG 4* 5.9 Jordan Simmons 6-5/335 Encino (CA) Crespi
OT 3* 5.7 Shane Callahan 6-6/290 Parker CO (Chaparral)
OG 3* 5.7 Kelby Latta 6-4/295 MI

TE 4* 5.8 TE Ron Thompson 6-4/225 East Detroit
TE 3* 5.6 Sam Grant 6-6/230 Lakewood OH St. Eds

DT 4* 5.8 Sheldon Day 6-2/270 Indianapolis Warren Central
DE 4* 5.8 Chris Wormley 6-5/275 Toledo OH (Whitmer)
DT 3* 5.7 Ondre Pipkins 6-3/320 Kansas City Park View
DT 4* 5.8 Dan O'Brien 6-3/275 MI
DE 4* 5.8 Tom Strobel 6-6/240 Mentor OH

LB 3* 5.7 Kaleb Ringer 6-1.225 Clayton OH (Northmont)
LB 4* 5.8 James Ross 6-1/215 MI OLSM
LB 4* 5.8 Royce Jenkins Stone 6-1/215 MI Cass Tech

S 3* 5.7 Jarrod Wilson 6-2/190 Akron OH (Buchtel)

CB 4* 5.8 Terry Richardson 5-9/170 Det Cass Tech

So based on your class, we have:

(1) 5*
(11) 4*
(9) 3*

Would be a top 5 class and observers think M has a decent shot at landing this list of what appears to be M's top targets by position.

Stuff I've read seems to think Mauk will be at ND. The relationship with Kelly and the desire to play in a "spread", whatever that means anymore, will be the trump cards.

I hope that list is wrong. We need more than one WR and we desperately need a stud running back. That hypothetical class would be top 10 maybe, but not top 5.

Also, is Wormley really only projected to be a low 4-star? The way the guy has been talked about, some people are saying he might be the top prospect in Ohio.

Wormley is overrated by M fans because of his very early interest in M. His on-field performance has been mediocre but has the body and athletic ability to be much more.

..... forgot to mention, the ratings were added to one guys list as a best guess by another guy. None of the rankings are out yet except for some 5* rankings which I think came out on Monday or Tuesday.

On Mauk observers seem to think M has as good of a chance at him that ND does.

Hanni ... you are right on WRs. Many comments surrounding the list that M was going to have to take more that one WR in 2012.

After taking 0 in '11, they need at least 2 in '12 despite taking more than the coaches would've liked in '10 & '09.

We've got lots of numbers at WR, but many of them Jeremy Gallon, Terrence Robinson, and DJ Williamson types. i.e. either future "role players" or guys who won't fit into the offense.

Rodriguez's attrition and shitty recruiting are going to hurt this team for a long time after this season. No free safeties, Big East caliber corners, crappy linebackers, mediocre running backs, mediocre spread receivers, and two straight years without a blue chipper OT.

Wanting to wait till after this weekends visits (which is a big recruiting weekend) to start the recruiting discussion, also be nice to know if that discussion can be sticked to the top here. Malk is solidly in play for M, very interested in the Wolverines but might be tough to overcome his ties to ND...

Ben Braden OL supposedly on commit watch, M probably favorite here but MSU is certainly in the picture.

Ben Braden is now on the commit list. 6'6", 280 OT prospect, picked Michigan over Wisconsin and Michigan State. He is the first commit for Michigan's 2012 class-- may many more join him soon.

Braden comes from a good program. Rockford is always in the mix for appearances in the Finals. Good size. Michigan will probably get him up over 300 once he arrives. For the pro style offense, he probably needs to weigh 305-310.
