Forum Auction Thread

I thought it might be nice to have an auction thread to support the forum. Here's how I see it working. Anyone can put an item up for sale. It soes not have to be sports related. The winning bidder would send the money to Deb to offest the costs of running this place. The auction should run for a week from the time the item is listed and the seller may frequest reimbursed if he or see choose for shipping costs. A friend of mine who works fro the Ottawa Senators dropped by to see me while home for a visit last week. He brought me a completely autographed team jersey, but then I no one here would want it, so I gave it to the local chapter of the MS Society.l This thread has not by the way been authorized by the forum admin, and if they want to dump it they can.
So I will put the first item up. It is a fall pullover jacket. It looks like the one in this picture except it says Detroit Lions not just Lions.

So here goes...Our first auction...Op-ening bid should be five dollars and go up in two dollar increments

zscwebvgd I am having trouble with the pic i will keep trying

The hoodie is a large. It is brand new, in that it still has the tags on it and has never been worn. I remember when I bought it a year ago I paid something like 50 dollars tax in....It is not as nice as the one in the pic above but it is still pretty darn nice. My camera is busted, otherwise I would post a pic.
I would think if the forum got 30 to 40 bucks it would be a good deal for all. But highest bidder takes it, there is no reserve and I am picking up shipping charges.

Nice thought BC.

Just wondering if you cleared the idea with DEB who is apparently a busy woman. She may not have any time or desire to handle any of the suggested responsibilities.

To the poster formerly known as Gonz. This is very basic and Deb has no work to do at all. I as a seller put an item up for sale. It is my responsibility to send the item to the winning bidder. The winner sends the amount of the winning bid directly to Deb either by check or paypayl. The only work I see her doing is counting the money. Something I don't think she'd mind. And it keeps the forum alive and well.
BTW hope all is well on the left coast good buddy.

Its all good out here my man.

Btw, I was really only thinking about the part regarding S&H reimbursements.

Forgive me if I misread it.

I'm guessing some framed mac n cheese with a small auto would sell better.

Because the money is going to the forum. Can we just agree that the seller assumes the shipping cost up to a certain amount. Or if the shipping is more than say, $10, he/she places that in the post and splits cost with the buyer. Ues I know that is two checks the buyer makes out, but it is for a cause. It might have said it, I may have misread it also.

Just to add this is a great idea for a couple reason. Helps keep the forum running. And if anyone out there wants to play Banker. We could do this all year and maybe help defray costs of food or drink at the "Official" forum game. We all know this is not going to be an ebay type deal. We trust each other and no person is going to make a profit from it. Any item someone wishes to sell off and get nothing in return is great. It is only if someone wants some money for something that we would need to put the hammer down.

I have the original 1996/7 cover of SI with Charles Woodsen on it. Gotta find it and see what condition it is in. If it is good, I will post it. I still haven't been able to figure out how to upload a photo.

There's one of 2 ways to upload a photo.

1. If you click Go Advanced to the right of the Post Quick Reply button there will be a Manage Attachments where you can upload the photo there.

2. You can upload the photo to a sharing site, I use TinyPic myself. The address is http://tinypic.com. Once you do
that, copy the "Direct Link for Layouts". Then click the Insert Image button above this text box and paste the link in here and it should show up in your posts.

DL, reread his post. The photo button is to link to a photo that's online. The manage attachments button is what you're looking for.

I like to use tinypic because it doesn't use the forum's resources as far as server space and bandwidth goes.
