They use that excuse all of the time. Alot of time one or more commercials are made to by a firm to sell an idea to a company. An example would be the Evil Ka commercials, I loved them but Ford didn't and killed nix that advertising idea. Those commercials become "banned" commercials, but really they should just get called "unused".

Whats is really funny is that the advertising works. If you ever hear of the Ka from now on that commercial will be the first thing you think of.
