Not sure where to put this. I don't think my privacy settings allowed them to get anything other than my name, but others aren't as fortunate:

Coop, my son has had homebrew running for years. I think you just need to stay on top of Nintendo updates that might brick such a system, ie, don't update the system until homebrew adjustments have been released (usually just a couple of days).

For others, why do this? Cool game mods like speeding up Brawl, adding random pics for character faces, play dvd's (maybe you can do this with an unmodified system now, I'm not sure), write your own games. This has actually inspired my kid to learn C because there's a fun objective.

On ethics, besides it being pretty obvious that you should be able to do what you want with things you've purchased, the homebrew guys are opposed to copyright infringement and have even put forth a lot of effort to help Nintendo out with respect to this (they've just been pissed on for their efforts but that's beside the point).

Deb, all the guy did was write a crawler and record the names and url's to the main pages of users. Not hard to do and nothing to write home about (any more than a white pages, anyway). These guys:

http://www.spokeo.com/

actually did the same thing but took the time to scrape data off of the pages, property tax records, realty info, etc.

I think that the govt has just legalized "jailbreaking" cell phones. Do you know if it applies to game consoles as well?

It does. All this does is mean they can't sue modders or people who have made modifications to the hardware or software.

Still doesn't mean that Modding doesn't break their TOC and therefore do all sorts of mean things like brick your object "by accident" when you do a software update.

This is why I am careful about giving personal information. I do give a valid e-mail addy but other than that, things that are irrelevant are accurate and relevant things are not.

BTW, even though I enjoy being to tell people Happy Birthday on their birthday, that is one of the things I refuse to make public.

.....so since I enjoy being told Happy Birthday on my birthday also, how bout every time someone posts a HB post to a valued forum member, they also wish me a HB because, it just might me my birthday too.

I read it the first time and took note.

Never had an interest in those kind of sites before and certainly never after.

A little background, I picked up a new video camera when my son was born in March. I went with the Sony CX-550, because it seemed to have the most features along with ease of use.

Anyways, last night we were out at one of the local summer festivals. They always end with a fireworks show, so I went to the menu and put on the "fireworks" scene filter. I have to say I'm really impressed with out it came out: YouTube- ‪Mifune Fireworks 2010‬‎
Oh, it's in HD as well if you want to up the resolution.
