Simpson is shooting 41% from the arc and a hair under 50% overall. Fuck outta here with the “he can’t shoot” nonsense.

He can’t hit a FT but there is nothing wrong with his shooting from the field.

He didn’t have a good game yesterday. It happens. He also dominated the MSU game just 2 days ago but let’s not mention that...

Z is getting better every game and has been since mid December. Sure, he missed some shots last night. Z was a floor general for a lot of last night and made great passes. I’m not sure if he had a turnover too. The defense is always there.
If anyone watches a replay or rewatches it, check out the pass Z made to Robinson in the 2nd half. Good stuff.

Last comment about the game from me: that run when M made five straight 3s in the 2nd half was so awesome. Jordan Poole = swagger.

On to @ Nebraska... they just narrowly beat Illinois.

Simpson's shot looks awful. But he is 41% on his threes this year, so whatevs?

He's got 15 assists and 1 turnover in his last three games. I was listening to the mgoblog podcast yesterday morning. They were quoting some fancystat regarding Simpson's efficiency and it's ridiculously high. I don't remember the details of how the fancystat works, but it was indicative of Simpson being able to set up not just shots, but wide open ones and lots of threes.

Last night was a bit of a lucky win but Maryland hit some lucky desperate threes with the shot clock winding down, so in some ways, it evened out.

Simpson should take some free throw instruction from Andre Drumond.
You're half right, Geez. Simpson struggles from the line. However, despite his 2 for 12 (0-3 from deep) performance last night, Z is still shooting .495 from the floor and .412 from 3. Both those percentages are well above average.

Last week, he went 6-10 (2-3 3PT) vs. Purdue and 5-9 (1-1) against spartie.

How quickly we forget....

Ah- I didn't read this post until now. I guess my post is a little redundant.

Good team chemistry -- Lots of depth so that if one or two players have off nights, others will pick up the slack. Also, having Teske in reserve is huge for when our star needs a break.

That 2-3 min stretch where we hit the 5 3s was as fun as anything in awhile. Damn explosive.

Btw, now up to 17 defensively nationally.

Matthews is perfect for Michigan. If he could shoot better, he'd be in the NBA by now. His kind of athleticism is something that MSU has had more than us in the past. "Toughness" equals athletic ability to play defense, rebound, grab turnovers, and other things that don't show up as much in the statistics as shooting. Simpson and Teske have similar qualities.

I don't think Matthews has close to an NBA handle just yet. Also, even though he's put on about 15 pounds since arriving, he's going to likely need another 10-15 to be NBA-ready.

Doesn't look NBA to me. At least not right now. Disappears too often.

He’s nba but not this season. Way too raw. Neither an elite shooter nor slasher at the college level, and that gets you forgotten in the NBA draft.

Knock on wood, I may be a photographer at the NW (road) game.

Sweet! You're lucky this wasn't a few years ago when I really had the need to communicate with Beilein, and would have been happy to explore the usage of any/all intermedaries possible.

Matthews' defense and rebounding, though. Perfect for Michigan, because that's what we traditionally lack. NBA wants somebody who can shoot better.

Expecting a win tonight. Nebraska looks like they can make it interesting though. They narrowly lost to Kansas and beat BC at home.
@ a 13-7 Nebraska team with around a -5 M spread. Need to toughen out this win so that losing @ Purdue won’t be that costly. Yea, M could win @ Purdue. Purdue plays REALLY well at Mackey Arena, however.
When Purdue is good, the fans make Mackey one of the toughest arenas to play at. Just wait for it. My freshman year when JuJuan Johnson and E’Twaun Moore were seniors, the demand for student tickets was ridiculous. Over the following few years when DJ Byrd was Purdue’s best player, much less demand. (That’s probably how it works for most places... bandwagon people)
The Paint Crew = a Purdue home court weapon.
