Unless he’s picked to be Detroit’s HC. That’s still on the table.

Also Detroit will be interviewing Carolina’s DC this week, apparently he’s the last dude. You guys won’t like him, he believes you win games by out playing the opponent, not out scheming them - how dare he.

Yeah, but you can't win with Mulbach. It's been shown for 13 years, FFS.

Former? Did he resign?

Yes he is, but consider the source. Rappaport isn't great at details.

The Bengals are also reporting the negotiations are ongoing

There's no denying the negotiations, but technically, he is still the DC of the Lions. Hence, not the former.

True, he’s also a HC candidate for the Lions - I’m sure that would take precedence.

I think if he felt he had a chance at the head coaching position in Detroit he wouldn't be looking for a DC job elsewhere though. I think he sees the writing on the wall.

He might be thinking that he could turn the Cinci gig into the HC job when Lewis leaves/gets fired.

Except Marvin is apparently the Rasputin of NFL coaches. He can't even quit.

I think Marvin Lewis is the best possible coach for that flimsy organization, that team is content with mediocrity whereas the Lions are just a mediocre organization. The Lions will spend a lot of money and get no results, the Bengals are just cheap. Lewis has his faults and may never be a coach to lead you to a super bowl, but I don't think that organization is serious about it.

Millen never tried to quit. Millen wasn't a quitter, dammit.

Glad if Austin goes to Cincy ... no more holdovers! Why bring in a guy from the Pats' org (Quinn) to not clean house when you still have the remnants of the Millen regime (Millen hired Mayhew, Mayhew hired Caldwell, Caldwell hired Austin and Cooter)?

IDK

IF the Lions hire a HC with DC ties, then he may want to keep Cooter, for now.

Carlos can then wail on him for being a FO shill.

If not, he will pat himself on the back as if he had a hand in finding the coach and getting rid of Cooter.

His narrative of himself was the actual story.
