What sucks is all of these coaches, excluding McDaniels, are just Jim Schwartz again. The head coach of their current team has a speciality in their area and this would be their first head coach job.
I guess that is what you have to do with the NFL... a lot of uncertainty.

Example: LaFleur is offensive coordinator for the Rams. McVay actually is the offensive guy there. LaFleur, never been a head coach.

You just described McVay last year with Gruden in Washington. One or two of these guys are going to be the next good coaches in this league. You just have to hope you pick correctly.

I'd be okay with Jon Gruden too. He doesn't seem like a guy that would half-ass it. That said, I would assume he would want control anywhere he went so I assume he wouldn't want to coach under Quinn. I'd like to see how he would handle Stafford.

I don't like the idea of McDaniels or Patricia. If one of those guys was hired, it would make me worried that Quinn can't think for himself.

I am intrigued by Arians. If I'm not mistaken, he was the OC in Pitt and had Roethlesberger playing at a high level, was the OC in Indy and had Luck playing at his best, and as head coach in AZ he had Palmer playing at a high level. If he came here as head coach or OC, I would be eager for the new season to start.

With all these job openings, Teryl Austin should get his shot this year. If he takes the Brownies to 8-8 we will all know he could have done 12-4 for us.

Haha, Jon Gruden.
I thought Papa Johns named him as a possible candidate to be their new CEO.

I think if Gruden is coming back, he is all in. I don't think you get a half into it guy.
To be fair... I don't trust the Lions to hire an established coach, either.

If Josh McDaniels did learn from his Broncos mistake. By all means would be good.

The crazy thing is there legitimately could be as many as 12 head coaching vacancies at the end of this season. Now, there won't be that many as a few of these coaches will be retained but it is definitely going to be an interesting off season.

I hope Garrett stays in Dallas because they have some nice talent to entice some of the better coaches there. New York is always a nice draw and Chicago too. I’m just glad they’re tied to Trubisky. That kid is terrible. Big time bust.

Eh, Trubisky shows some flashes. Certainly needs a lot of work, but he’s looked better than Goff did last year in similar circumstances.

I think Trubisky is going to be a good QB.

While this is true, the established coaches they have hired have been a lot better than the first timers. Some of the first timers have been some of the truly awful hires in NFL history.

I doubt that they only play four winning teams next year.

Yeah how much desire can a coach really have to win, when they have been willing to be out of the coaching seat as long as he has. It's not like he wouldn't have instantly got a job if he tried back when he was let go. Then there is the elephant in the room, he is a really good coach getting Tampa and Oakland (Vegas) into SB quality teams. But his success in Tampa had more to do with Kiffen and the defense that was built back when Dungy was in charge.

I could make a case for Jay if the Skins let him go, Jon I would pass on.

I'm thinking a realistic choice is going to be Caldwell. He'll use his current staff.

That should right this ship

Maybe not. In Allen Park there is strong talk of a change in the long time cafeteria head lunch for 2018. She is contemplating retiring. This is big news because she is in charge of making Jim and Martha's favorite Jello pudding.

I like Arians myself. From what I've seen he's a bit more of an aggressive coach.
