I have a hard time believing the cupboard was so bare that there wasn't juniors and seniors that would of gave us a better chance to win now

^ agree King .... a few guys left the program including the QB, but the Wolverines have a top 20 recruiting class EVERY year, so there is most definitely talented players on the roster DickRod is eschewing for his guys.

not really. Mallett may not have transferred, and the starting RB would be different, but the rest? Not so much

Geez, Slif, you keep forgetting about Jake Long. That, in the current vernacular, is hella different.

How'd I forget about Jake Long? He was a graduated Senior, and would have been gone even if Carr stayed.

Although I would imagine Boren would have stayed...

Yeah, I wasn't following the conversation closely enough.

I keep on waiting for the Spartans to NOT resemble the Lions. Admittedly, it was the first game of the season, but a shitload of penalties, a blocked punt, turnovers...I thought the disciplinarian coach was supposed to take care of that crap.

Missed opportunities in that game. Packfan is still pining for John Looney Smith.

The Spartans were ready for that game, they are just a work in progress.

Cal made mistakes too. Longshore is an interception waiting to happen, and their punter muffed a perfectly good snap. Better team won, but I thought State showed promise. I prefer their style of play to the new Michigan team. Cal had the best player on the field (RB). Michigan won't have him.

No doubt about the Cal mistakes. They were the better team, MSU needed to play a pretty error free game to win and hope Cal had some errors. Cal did have enough errors but MSU didn't cash in when they needed to in the 1st half. The bad int at the end of the half really hurt.

The defense is still a year away I think. We'll see though, the first game is always tough to gauge.

Ok- EMU is no MSU as far as football goes, but think that the Eagles of EMU have a pretty fast offense and a defense that attacks the ball. I believe that it may be a little closer or maybe even a different outcome than you think.

Greg Jones is a good looking LB. Once he fully learns the MLB position, he's going to be very, very good (he's pretty good now).

You don't take the points as a favorite, you lay the points as a favorite.
