Linehan was a good coordinator, it felt as though the offense was a little too unstructured with him and they didn't use much tempo(no huddle) in the play calling. Caldwell did change that and it happened mainly under JBC but the structure of stubbornly handing the ball off to ineffective running backs really hurt them. But the offense was OK, I agree with the premise of the post that you need to be more creative, although I don't think you need that much more creativity. Plays near the goal line would have benefitted from some creative plays.

The goal line was often where we struggled the most. That trick 2 point play was admittedly against a shit Packers D but imagine if they had tried it just once after banging our heads on the force field of the Steelers end zone however many times.

Jim Caldwell would have done nothing so tricky with anything on the line. The man was an eunuch.

No guarentee it works, the reason it worked against Green Bay is because Green Bayís defense was undisciplined and didnít maintain outside containment. Thereís no guarantee that would happen against Pittsburgh.

Especially when you consider the difference between going to the playoffs and not going to the playoffs was a failed series of plays from the Atlanta one yard line early in the season.

The last six plays of the Atlanta game - if any one of them executes properly the Lions win.

Now I realize having a running game would help but that fake toss/handoff from the Eagles is exactly the kind of play I’m talking about.

Innovative, unexpected, effective.

Cooter doesn't understand the running game, by his admission.

Actually, that's NOT what he said - but you'll mindlessly continue to tell he same lie as if it's true. Sad and pathetic.
