        • Noooo, we can't give Freep.com clicks. F*** that website

Mayhew was an average GM, below average at worst.
Not a Millen, Gene Smith, or the worst.... KAHN!

I think that hire won't turn out to be as bad as some Lions fans are saying. Yes, Lions fans can root against Mayhew, but he wasn't that bad.
The Bills hired Jim Schwartz as D-Coordinator. That turned out REALLY well. Mayhew's lesser role might fit him.

          • More on my Freep argument:
MLive is better. They are always an hour ahead on news compared to Freep. I've noticed Freep writers come out with a similar article to something on Mlive days later. Can't forget Drew Sharp and plagiarism.

            • Millenhews stewardship was one of the most inept ever.

                Now this is funny!

I was talking to a vendor yesterday about Mayhew getting turned down by the Tits and wondering what his plight might be.

I did not tune in yesterday but am guessing Valenti's head must have exploded with this news. (For those who do not know him, Valenti is a bombastic radio sports talk personality here in the D and he is very hard on the Lions. In fact, his station had the broadcast rights to Lions games and when renewal contract discussions came up last year, Lions insisted that Valenti be fired for them to get a renewal. The parent company, CBS, declined and next year Lions football will be broadcast on another station. Valenti is a Giants fan as he grew up in out state New York.)
I long for a Lions team that is consistently competitive.

I look forward to the day we can forget Drew Sharp.

                    really? The percentage dips again.

-----------------------------That's the real funny thing about the situation giving Valenti constantly hammered Mayhew. Doug and Gator couldn't wait to talk to him about it.

                      • Let me put it in words that Masspartan can accept.

                        MILLENHEW was a proven weiner.

The type you really, really like because he was a Lion.

                        • Millenhew had much more success when he was in charge of improving the roster than Millen did.

His downfall was allowing Suh to walk with nothing more than a compensatory pick.

I am wondering if he is still confident they will get a deal done.

                          • I'd say his downfall was his record in the second round of the draft. Good lord.

                              ......that too.

Most importantly. He and Lewand sold the notion that the team is poised to win now.

The start of this season proved differently.

One of the most inept, puzzling, reaching, and flat out idiotic string of picks in NFL history I would imagine.
