I never thought I'd see a Tom Izzo-coached Michigan State team not earn a single trip to the free throw line in a first half against Michigan. That wasn't due to the usual Big Ten home team bias in refereeing either, as best I could tell(though I am, of course, biased in this regard)-- MSU just wasn't attacking the basket that strongly, and Michigan wasn't forced to foul them to compete for rebounds. In the second half, MSU finally seemed to figure out that they had an advantage inside. I'm just grateful that it took them so long.

Did anyone else feel warm and fuzzy seeing Lloyd Carr next to Belein and Denard and Roundtree cheering their asses off in the student section? It really feels like the dust has settled on the Dark Times and the entire AD is firing on all cylinders.

All of the above, plus big wins by the Hockey Team (sweeping ohio, winning the Frozen Diamond Classic, and moving to within striking distance of 1st place), and Women's Basketball undefeated at home, 14-4 overall and challenging for 1st), not to mention football success (Sugar Bowl Champs, undefeated at home and Top Ten Final Ranking @ #9 in the USA Today Poll)---yes, the Michigan AD is humming along right now---GO BLUE!!

I hope the young ballers in the state of Michigan have been taking note and are returning back to the dreams of playing for the Wolverines.

it was the first time I've seen the new Crisler Center, it's pretty sweet. I like the shadow B1G, and the shaded area under the three point line...

I especially enjoy watching the students enjoy themselves. Its their team, after all, not ours. This is their college experience, not ours. They're seeing the renaissance
of Michigan basketball, and I'm a bit envious of them. Mostly, I'm proud of how its been done. Straightforward recruiting, and a good man as head coach. Beilein wasn't a "sexy" choice, but he was the right choice. He's probably not the guy that Dick Vitale or Billy Packer would have hired to coach Michigan, but this hire has turned out very well. He's done a fine job, and he has the team poised for a very exciting future.

I hope that not only the young kids in Michigan take note, but also throughout the country. And I especially hope they take note of the difference between Izzo and Beilein, in their demeanor on the court, and how they treat their players. Izzo comes off as a screamer, and someone who sulks a lot when things go bad. Beilein seems like a guy who might get upset, but moves on quicker following adversity.

They played just excellent defense on that last possession.

THey had a lot of good defensive series. They were clearly overmatched in the post, but they stopped pretty much any drives to the basket. The whole team is really good at getting position when other teams are driving.

Agree regarding the defense. In my opinion, Green did NOT have a good look at the basket on that last shot. I was quite pleased when that one went up...

No it was a leaning runner. It would have been a heck of a shot if it went in. I thought the tip had a better chance.

Yeah, he was moving to his left as he put it up, and his movement didn't stop during the shot. He was still moving, rather than holding still when he put up the jumper.

I agree Jamie. When I saw them get the tip, my heart sunk.

Its good to see our guys competing with Izzo and his boys again. Izzo has had things way too easy in Michigan over the last 10 years. He's got to actually become a coach now, instead of getting a walkover win. Not long ago, Spartan fans were buying up the empty seats at Crisler, and holding signs saying "Welcome To Breslin East". I'm glad those days are over.

I wish M fans would start to invade Sparty land. We don't seem to travel well for the away hoops.

Well, a Breslin ticket is a hard get, even for Sparty fans.

If they fall on some lean times, the tickets will probably start opening up.

When I lived in Lansing, I never had trouble getting a ticket to the UM/MSU game. Our fans just aren't very good bball fans.

Is it possible? My brother and I were thinking of going up there this weekend. What can we expect to pay and where should we look? To her credit, my Spartie sister-in-law isn't helping.

Hmmm...good question. When I lived there 3 years ago, we weren't nearly the threat we are now, especially after beating them 3 times in a row. They really want this game...bad. You can prolly get them on stubhub or something online, but would be paying way over face I'd bet. You will no doubt be able to scalp them outside of Breslin, I'm curious to what they'll be asking. Would shock me if you can get any ticket below $75 or so and much, much more for a better seat.

Yeah. I think $75 might be worth it, but we're kinda feeling like we won't get less than $100 outside near tipoff (wild guess) and that's a bit steep.
