Our defense probably couldn't hold the 2008 Lions to 7 points.

If the Lions win, it's gonna be a 30-20 score, or something to that effect.

If the Lions rule the line of scrimmage, it's a bit hard to believe that our defense will still be epically bad. I think the Lions will have a good number of games this season where our DL owns the day. IMO, that means lots of sacks, even with our questionable back 7 our share of takeaways via interceptions and forced fumbles.

If we cause turnovers, our offense is high powered enough to put some serious points on the board.

Stafford 2nd year QB - Team Captain

Harrington, 3 tries and out of the league.

They don't hand out that C just because he has swagger. His play is a big part of it.

Harrington's stats were worse than MS in the first year and he had a ok-decent 2nd year, considering the coaching and the Oline.

MS according to some still has a retched Oline, but better coaching. The first 8 games should dispell any and all talk of comparison between the two and Harrington will be nothing more than a footnote on here.

Yeesh. Joey still. He was a failure. He failed here for years, then failed elsewhere, even as a backup. It's over with. Any statements about what might have been had he been elsewhere or how other QBs might have fared under the same circumstances are little more than lame excuses and idle speculation IMO. Nobody believes he was completely responsible for how bad his teams were, but he got his shot - multiple times - and couldn't hack it.

The jury is still out on Stafford. Personally, I did like how he looked many times, but at many other times he looked every bit a rookie. If he progresses by improving his decision-making, improving his touch, and improving his accuracy, we may have something here. My opinion is that he shows flashes that the Detroit Lions QB hasn't shown in ages, but flashes rarely win you games...consistency is needed. The flashes show you what could be.

You sure about that? Captain ROLLOVER proudly displays his C despite all the bluster and mustard but not one iota of proven ability.

I think Cleveland, in the third preseason game, when it was ones vs ones gave a clinic on how you attack the Lions Defense.....the Lions do have a decent pass rush, but if you use a lot of three step drops and quick slants and screens you completely eliminate the pass rush. And the Lions back 7 sucks so badly they can't cover anybody. Jake Delhomme (who is not that good) lit them up and took the Browns up and down the field.

You're most likely correct here, Russ, but I'm still clinging to the "it was preseason and we didn't scheme for our opponents at all" theory and hoping it won't be that bad when they DO scheme.

Okay. Makes sense. Your logical progression is flawless.
Well as long as your not concerned then everything will be wonderful.

Futhermore, my concern was not that his play would be affected, it is that he was not the saint that won't hold out like he portrayed himself to be in all the off-season interviews. If there is a posiblilty your going to hold out, then just keep your mouth shut. Don't feed the fans and the organization a line of bullshit.

Don't know if this was posted in another thread, but Don Banks predicts the first and last place team in each division.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp

The big news is...he doesn't predict the Lions to finish last!

There is some truth to that Deb....it honestly felt like Cleveland did game plan a little for the Lions by going almost immediately into a hurry up offense and calling 3 step drops and quick passes and screens almost constantly. The other advantage the Lions should have with the Bears game is that Martz is much more of a 7 step drop guy....he likes the deep crossing patterns. Still I figure the Bears game plan is going to incorporate a few screens and quick passing plays to try and help Cutler get rid of the ball.

Where I hope the Lions front 4 really shows up is the run game. It would be nice to stuff the run game and force the Bears in to some third and longs......last year the Bears run game and Forte were major disappointments, yet against the Lions Forte had big days. Hopefully that won't happen this Sunday.
